Truth, Beauty, Freedom, Love... And Tuberculosis

Moulin Rouge! The Musical tells a tale of truth, beauty, freedom, and love, but it is also a story of a woman dying of tuberculosis, a disease that today causes 1.6 million deaths globally each year, and infects 1/4 of the world's population.

Together with my father, Dr. Stefan Goldberg, former senior medical officer at the CDC's TB division and adjunct professor of epidemiology at the the Rollins School of Health at Emory University, who has dedicated the majority of his medical career to TB elimination, I am on a mission to raise awareness and march towards the elimination of TB. He and I strongly believe in the power of art to affect social and political change.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical, is about a woman dying of "consumption," yet many of our audiences have never learned that this "consumption" IS tuberculosis, and that it still affects so much of the world's population today. Much of the lack of progress in TB elimination is due to a lack of public knowledge and political will. I know that if we #ThinkTB we can #StopTB
